Soldanella pusilla
« on: August 25, 2008, 07:10:48 PM »
I got today a very nice clump of this tiny Soldanella. It is a present for my cousin. But I do not know how to grow this one. I know from my experience, that S. monatana and carpatica prefer a bit different conditions, so probably this one will be grow different. Could anyone write me how to grow it?

Hi Chris,

I grow it in a piece of limestone in my swamp. I put it in a hole in the limestone which I filled with peat and I put the plant in. It seems to be growing quite well but I only have it since last year.

Like that it has a quite acid soil with a bit of lime and the soil is constantly wet but not waterlogged. But maybe some people who have grown it for longer can give you some better advice.

I have found that this species is growing on always humid, acid soil. But I do not know what are the light conditions.

In my garden it grows in semi-shade (full sun in the morning - sun untill 12 o'clock - for the rest of the day shade)
