Paphiopedilum ID needed
« on: February 13, 2009, 04:39:15 PM »
Any idea on this Paphiopedilum in flower now for the first time. Just taken the pictures before I pollinate it but forgot to show leaves. They are marbled not plain and its believed to be a species.

I think Gerhard nailed it. I grow the straight species...the white is VERY lovely.

I'd considered micranthum after looking at various sites but could not find a white one anywhere on the net. Did not want to say so in case it influenced some other peoples ideas of what it might be.

Now you have both confirmed what I thought I'm very happy, Its a beautiful plant.

Thanks both for your input.

Anthony,

Paphiopedilum are the Asian analogue for Cypripediums (although thanks to the remarkable relationship of Asian and North American flora, there are Asian Cyps as well...and your calceolus....)...as are Phragmipediums in South America. Ladyslippers all.
