LONDON BOOK STORES
« on: January 30, 2009, 07:24:46 PM »
I wonder if anyone can recommend any bookstores in central London.  A dog's age ago there was Daniel Lloyd's on Mortlake near Kew Green but I never found another as good in the city.

Dear John,
Central London does not have any good bookshops for horticultural topics.
(The best is probably Foyles in Charing Cross Road)
For new books the Wisley Bookshop is by far the best.
For secondhand and antiquarian books the best is Mike Park  http:/mikeparkbooks.com
He does not have a 'shop' but you can arrange a viewing of his stock (he has alot more than Lloyds of Kew had).

Thanks Giles.

Of course we will visit Foyle's at Charing Cross.

Good to hear Mike Park has a website, it has been awhile since I've seen his list.

John, most of the larger bookshops these days seem to be under the same ownership (Waterson's, HMV) with a very limited stock of horticultural books apart from those written by popular(sic.) television gardeners. You will probably do better at the smaller independent stores if you can find them.

David - Thanks. We'll scour Tottenham Court Road and vicinity as I seem to recall a few small ones there, but that was quite awhile ago.
