Variegated Polygonatum zanlanscianense ?

Hi all,

Last Year I sowed some seeds of Polygonatum zanlanscianense (from Chilternseeds, and they got it from annew), which germinated under ground last year and developed nice first leaves some weeks ago. Among them is one with two yellow patterned leaves - has anyone observed this in Polygonatum ? And can I expect this to be a stable variegation ? Or might this even be a disease ?

Michael,

I couldn't comment on variegation in this species of polygonatum as I do not grow it but I do grow a variegated polygonatum so variegation is not unknown in the species.

I have a forest of seedlings beneath the parents, and no sign of anything like this.

 Lucky you, that looks like good variegation. Well, if you like variegation in plants. It will be interesting to see if it stabilizes.

Okay, then I'll take care that it survives and try to separate it in autumn - we'll see how it will reappear next year.
I'm not a fan of variegated plants, but this one is okay and a very exiting thing
