I will start this thread with a few pictures from my workplace, the Botanical Garden in Cluj.

Many thanks for the wonderful photographs - but too few! Do post some more. The gardens look wonderful, good variety and well arranged.

A recent visit to the Botanic Gardens in Paris made me appreciate the one which is at home. It was not at all like the beautiful photograph you have posted. It had no variety of plants and the layout was rigid and uninteresting.

Looking forward to more photographs.

I must send you a pic of our magnolia in the back yard.  Absolutely covered every year.  When they're happy and mature they can produce a LOT of flowers.  I have 13 Magnolias in my garden so far...... and love them all.  They range from whites through pinks, yellows, doubles etc.

As requested some fresh pictures from Cluj. Primulas, violas and magnolia in the background, part of the asiatic woodland, a japanese fountain and a statue among the bulb collection.

I took a trip yesterday to Valea Ierii, a place in the mountains, not far away from Cluj. I found two populations of Crocus heuffelianus (= Crocus vernus ssp. vernus), which were very variable in terms of size, colour, markings, tepal shape, etc.
I also found Pulmonaria rubra, Anemone nemorosa, Dentaria glandulosa and some Sphagnum species.
And of course some kids who were enjoying the spring bounty.

Love that shot of the clump of Crocus heuffellianus.  Aren't they just so cool?  I am awaiting the day that I have a clump of those in my garden...... I guess the seed from Thomas H had better hurry up and grow.  They only germinated last spring so I think I'll be waiting a while yet! <grin>  Thanks again Thomas!!

Delighted that you have responded to the requests for more photographs; they are excellent and certainly enjoyed here.

I am very impressed by the design and layout in the Botanic Gardens. They strike me as a place which would be very pleasant, as well as informative, to visit.

The photographs from the countryside are very beautiful. It was Crocus niveus which took  my fancy.

I thought the children might have found some Easter eggs. I don't think crocus flowers taste as nice.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the pictures. The garden is 14 hectares in size, and was layed out in 1920 by Alexandru Borza (one of the most important botanists of Romania) and the gardener Cornel Gurtler.
Today I'll post pictures of the Roman garden with 2000 year old tombs, a view of the water tower and plant systematics section, veronica filiformis and salix babylonica, ajuga, forsythia in flower nead a yellowish syringa, and viburnum fragrans. Unfortunatelly there is no frangrance to go with the pictures.
