Lawers Dam - Ben Lawers Nature Reserve
« on: July 27, 2009, 12:30:51 AM »
On Saturday, taking advantage of a rare sunny day, I drove up to the Lawers Dam (hydro-electric) and the slopes of Meall Corranaich, Perthshire. It's about 600m above sea level, so quite high. Only an hour's drive. More to follow.

I remember climing Ben Lawers when I was about ten or eleven. I think we saw Saxifraga oppositifolia near the peak, or am I remembering incorrectly?

You would have Martin. Bud Lyle (of Delaney and Lyle, Alloa) used to sell a form that was collected on Ben Lawers.

There are several different water features in the above pics Mark.

Wonderful setting, magic light evoking memories of hill walks as a child for me too....what a thrill to see an eagle on the wing as well and I can 'hear' the water in the burn - thanks for sharing your walk Anthony  :)
