Again wrong named : Acis longifolia (syn.Leucojum longifolium)
« on: September 03, 2009, 11:00:42 AM »
Hi all ,

I just have seen that my plants of Acis longifolia bought from a german seller in this year are again wrong named ....they start now with flowers !!! :o :o :o

They should flower in spring ( April –May )!!!  :'( :'( :'(

Same problem was with the plants from a member from USA ( received before some years )...they are also wrong ! :-[ :-[ :-[

Has anyone a true A.longifolia ?  ::)

I have only one pot with this plants – grown from seeds ex AGS ( 2002 ).....but I would have a second one true named plant ( for comparison )

Best regards
Hans

Has anyone a true A.longifolia?

I do, but it rarely flowers. It is distinctive among the small Acis species in that the scape is much longer in proportion to the flowers in comparison with those of Aa. autumnalis, nicaeensis, rosea, and trichophylla. Also, A. longifolia's flowers are smaller than those of the other species. The end result is a plant that is not well proportioned.

And, yes, the leaves are very long in comparison.

So persist: the real thing is out there somewhere.

Hi Rodger ,

I will look in next spring for my plants to and take a pic ...I dont remember exactly about the flower size ...

Do you remeber from where your plants of A.longifolia came ?
