The white one could be either Romulea Flava, or Romulea sladenii, have a look here.

K-D

While i don't have a definitive id for you  ??? don't discount R.tabularis as white forms are known,(although rarely).

Cheers Dave.

A nice crocea and now a nice bulbocodium Michael. I think the whole of my Romulea collection has really suffered from the weather this year. So far I have had one very poor flower from R. linaresii that never opened properly (it's one you sent me in 2008 Michael and was beautiful last year) and many of the others are sulking.

And, just to prove me wrong here's a new flower on it today.

... and very nice it is too, David. This one opened for me today too- I think it is Romulea linaresii graeca, which has bulked up from scraps left behind by the voles. If my naming is correct it differs from the Bulgarian form by being slightly paler and having a pale reverse to the petals.

It looks OK Simon. In "The Bulbous Plants of Europe and their Allies" Grey-Wilson and Mathew, it says " Like (R. linaresii) but with flowers smaller, less than 2cm long; bracts up to 1.5cm long and with pointed tepals" (round in linaresii)

We have 2 surprise patches of this Romulea bulbcodium flowering now in the xeric garden. We both remember buying this as R.zahnii a long time ago, but were never sure whether this name was correct.
