Kaçkar Mountains - autumn flowers

Some times ago I asked Erich Pasche to show some pics from his recent journey to northeastern Turkey - here are some impressive photographs (digitalised from 6 x 6) of Colchicum speciosum and Crocus kotschyanus suworowianus made in the Kaçkar Mountains.

Oh, my  goodness! We are speechless here...... such colour, so many flowers! Gerd, thanks to you for arranging these pix for us from dear Erich.....we are truly grateful!

So he is still carrying his large camera, then?!  ;) These photos have digitalised very well, marvelous!!

The pics were made about mid September with a good old Hasselblad camera - according to Erich the dark pink colored Colchicum was an especially remarkable plant within the population.

I think you should be no more the 10 in the world still using 6 x 6  ;D but this is fantastic size !!!
Should be a really nice trip, and the Colchicum color is simply stuning  :o
Do you use tripod to take your pictures ?

Fred, the pics were made by Erich Pasche (which always uses a tripod) - I only posted them. Won't adorn myself with borrowed plumes!

... one could get depressed seeing these and comparing them to the few bulbs we get to flower in a pot...  :-\  ;)
