suggestions near Barcelona
« on: January 17, 2010, 09:31:24 PM »
I may go in Barcelone next March or April to see a friend. Do you know if there's something interesting concerning botanics (gardens, wild plants) ? I fear the best I could see risks to be a little far (Pyreneas... ?)
If you have suggestions, don't hesitate

a trip to Montserrat is easy with a car and there is Ramonda in quantity growing. However you might be early to see it in flower as I saw it in full bloom at the beginning of May.

Hi Pascal, we went to the Botanic Garden in Barcelona a couple of years ago it is pretty new and a very modern angular design.  We were later in the year but it might be worth a visit now it has had a bit longer to settle down.

Maggie,
Are we allowed to answer this question??
Is there a SRGC policy on the subject?
I recall that some members seem to think that even naming the province where something grows will cause hordes of diggers to eradicate the species.
I have lived in the area and do of course know some places to visit.

I agree that the timing is early. Around May first is better.
Cheers
