Well yes, in that if the alpines travel in gin boxes, one assumes the boxes contained gin in the first place, Gin in a pot (with drainage hole) wouldn't be much use.

I may have posted this picture before but it would have been 18 months ago. On my last Australian visit, my host and I decided that in all decency we couldn't risk this poor man slipping and going under to drown, so we lowered the level way past any danger to him.

Enjoyed my day at the show, my first purchase was a fleece it was freezing. But I soon warmed up when I saw the wonderful display of alpines.
Came home broke. I blame Lesley, I bought loads of Irises, fell in love with them after seeing Lesley's lovely pictures, hope I can grow them.
I also bought a Cotswold staddle stone :) You should have seen our car, we got some strange looks.
Great show and so many friendly folks, glad I made the trip.

Angie :)

Got back last night at midnight and then got up this morning at 7am had a coffee and a few biscuit ::) and then went in the garden, been planting up all my purchase ;D if you could see my garden there isn't a space left, need to move into the pony paddock.
Had to take cover a couple of times to miss the showers. Hope it warms up a little for your guests, looking forward to meeting them in person.
I drove all the way down to Malvern, Derek took in the scenery. its strange but I do enjoy driving ::)

You can't make a better investment than irises Angie. I hope they all grow well for you. :D

I do hope so Lesley. I had tall irises in the garden but never new you got dwarf ones. I have potted some up and put some in the ground.

The Ulster Group AGS went to Malvern as part of this year's gardening trip. I had hoped to be there but because of a severe lack of money I had to with draw my name. Thankfully bat season is here again and I can sort out my I.O.U.s

The dwarfer the better Angie. They are so endearing. But the tall kinds are great too. :D
