Maianthemum for ID
« on: June 06, 2010, 09:02:54 PM »
Two weeks ago, when visiting a nursery I saw this plant in the garden as Maianthemum racemosum. I know that the plant I always grew as Smilacina racemosum should be named as  Maianthemum racemosum subsp. amplexicaule, which is the one carrying only a few black berries.
M. racemosum is the one which is carrying many (more reddish) berries and rather slender and stems not so upright falling down when the berries are ripening.
This one is very easy from seeds, but in my eyes not such a good garden plant.

Now in this nursery garden I saw this very sturdy and much more robust plant which I never saw before.
I hope somebody of the specialists out there can help me with a name of this plant.
Luit van Delft, right in the heart of the beautiful flowerbulb district, Noordwijkerhout, Holland.

Sadly Luit died on 14th October 2016 - happily we can still enjoy his posts to the Forum
