Trillium rivale seedlings and observations

Today I knocked some two year old Trillium rivale seedlings out of their seed pot to plant on. All were vertical with their growing point tight against the rhizome.
Before now I have always planted mine horizontal. My guess is they should have been nose down. Does everyone else know this

I've noticed it too but the rhizomes seem to flatten out as the plants get bigger and make a clump.

Mark,
I must admit that I've noticed the same thing, although not in all cases. It seems to be definitely the way for smaller seedlings, levelling out a bit as they mature a bit more.

Cheers.

Min winter temp -8 or -9°C. Max summer temp 40°C. Thankfully, maybe once or twice a year only.
