Trillium grandiflorum Seed

Hello,
I have freshy collected, moist packed (wild, Ontario) seed of Trillium grandiflorum to share.
Offers of trades are nice, but not necessary--it gives me pleasure to see this wonderful species spread around.

Because fresh, moist packed seed of this species will generally germinate late the first season it is collected, it is not something I am able to keep past a certain time, so will only be able to ship it to you, ungerminated, until early-fall, 2010.

If you would like commercial quantities, just say so, but give me an idea of quantity/seed count. One persons gram is another persons kilogram

Just a note:

For those of you from the Southern Hemisphere who have requested seed, the seed is moist packed in vermiculite, which is not an issue as a "packing substance." As I regularly ship "down under" I am familiar with the regulations regarding botanic names, packaging, etc.

You might have noticed that I pulled the Symplocarpus from my catalogue, because I recently discovered that they had germinated. This often happens with this species. When kept moist-packed long enough, some percentage will germinate even without cold treatment. Of the 6 marble-sized seeds in each zip lock, about an average of 2/3  had sprouted in each bag. When released from their tiny, cramped space, beautifully developed roots were there, nevertheless.

As a result of pulling them (awaiting new collection this fall), I am happy to send you my left-over stock of this--as well as the left over Maianthemum trifolium. But because the skunk cabbage seeds are so huge, the stock will have to go into a box for shipping, so if you are willing to pay for the shipping (which could be as much as $30 Canadian, depending on final weight--sadly anything over 200g OR in a box gets expensive overseas).

The Trillium is, of course, light, small and not a problem.

We can talk more privately about this.

It has taken me longer than usual to organize my Trillium grandiflorum shipment---but they are now FINALLY on the way to all who requested them; in smaller quantities than I had hoped, as I had some issues with the seed (larger than usual percentages of empties); probably due to the very hot/dry conditions during seed ripening times in Ontario (where they were wild collected & shipped to me).

Thus, I had to wait until the usual "natural elimination" took place in the moist-packed bags; which eventually left me with about 25% of the original "seed" collected.

Roland, your Symplocarpus and a smaller-than-promised quantity of the Trillium has also been shipped. I was able to fit it into a regular padded mailer, thus avoiding the horrendous international shipping costs of boxes.
