Hi,

I'm looking for a source of fully double blanda. I have appenina plena, mentioned in 'My Garden in Spring'. Bowles thought that double Blanda was the better plant.

Anyone know of a source?

I can't help you.... don't have a double A. blanda.... but I rather think there will be others around here who do.......

I didn't even know there WAS a double A. blanda. Never heard of it before. Does that mean all the stamens etc have converted to petals?

Yes; it sounds like they did. Bowles said that there were two forms - dark and light. He thought that double appenina was 'a poor thin thing compared with the double blanda'. So they must be good because I have double appenina which is a nice wee thing.

'My garden in spring' was published in 1914. Its possible that double appenina has died out. I hope note.

On Saturday I saw a double form of one of them but I am not quite sure whether it was appenina or blanda. I think it was blanda. The problem they grew in a park. So no way to get them.

It is a private and bounded park but you can try to get in...

Ok, it was just a double appenina but it is nice, too.
