Grown from seed labelled microlepis.
Am wondering if someone can ID it for me.
Is a bit wishywashy in colour but has a lovely strong clove scent.

Whatever it is, its very nice. I have a plant of D. microlepis grown from seed but it hasn't yet flowered. When it does, I'll let you see it. Won't be this year now though.

Helen, you have a nice plant, but definitely not D. microlepis.
I only have a picture of a white flowering plant, the usual form
has pink flowers, but the leaves are quite small and compact and
can also be more bluish. It prefers to grow in more acid substrate,
unlike the most other Dianthus.

Here's the usual colour of
D. microlepis
(or so I assume):

Chris, good luck with yours, hope you get the real deal.
Rudi, thanks for the pic, the white one is absolutely beautiful.
Lori, thanks for the pics, your plants look wonderful.
Are they flowering at the moment?

The usually cultivated plant is the calciphile
Dianthus microlepis
subsp.
degenii
having glaucous leaves.

The calciphobe
Dianthus microlepis
subsp.
microlepis
having green leaves I encountered in Pirin
mostly in white-flowered forms. The latter repeats flowering now whereas the former flowers merely
in the spring.
