Saponaria name
« on: August 18, 2011, 12:42:29 PM »
Hi All,
The tag on the plant says "Saponaria daviniana"---I can't find any information on the existence of a species with that name.
It certainly looks like a Saponaria, and the seed is correct.
Can anyone help?

Kristl

A misinterpreted Saponaria x olivana perhaps?  Just a suggestion from a once visually challenged oldie!   ;D

Have you got a picture of it Kristl? Some say 'Olivana' is sterile but I regularly get a little seed from it. Some come true suggesting self pollination and others are an assortment depending on which of half a dozen others I have, is the pollen parent. There have been some really good plants from it.

That sounds plausible, Cliff ..... good idea to think laterally for this sort of thing.  8)
