There will be a  Saxifraga Weekend at Waterperry on the 24/25 March 2012.
These weekends have proved to be very popular over the last few years.
As usual there will be plenty of Kabschia and Silver Saxes for sale.
On Sunday 25th David Hoare will give a talk at 2.00pm on:
Growing Kabschia Sax in Pots -  successfully.

 Not to missed.

See here for details of last year's event: http://www.srgc.org.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6466.0

There are other mentions of visits to Waterperry in the Forum to further tempt you, if you need persuaion!

Full details of the event will be posted here in due course.

Ron Mudd asks:

Would you please  let everyone know that the annual Kelk Garden Club Spring Plant Fair will this year be held on Sunday, 25th March 2012, 9.30 to 4.00. Admission is £2.00, children free. This will take place at The Showground, Driffield, East Yorkshire.  There will be many specialist nurseries there, and some individuals who have stalls selling their surplus plants from their personal collections including alpine specialists. ( I have picked up a few choice plants from these stalls). Although thousands usually attend there is plenty of parking on site.
Thanks
Ron

Dokka Festival 2012
« Reply #5 on: February 17, 2012, 02:21:34 PM »
In Norway, a pleasant programme of events is planned for the anniversary of Nordre Land Gardening Club:

Garden Festival and Fun at Dokka!
When:    30th June to 1st July 2012
Time   10:00-24:00
Location   Central Dokka and  Lands’ Museum/ http://g.co/maps/veahm

Description   Garden Festival at Dokka June 30-July 1, 2012

To celebrate Nordre Land Gardening Club’s 60th birthday in 2012 we are organizing a Garden Festival where gardens and garden joy will be in focus! This will be a garden festival for everyone! There will be lectures, a plant market, rebus for kids, workshops, and the anniversary dinner. Please keep the dates booked!

We have so far booked the following speakers:

Stephen Barstow from Malvik has promised to travel down and give  the lecture "Around the world with Permavegetables (Perennial or Permanent vegetables)" (Sunday). Are you interested in vegetables, then you really must attend this lecture! He really is knowledgable on edible plants.

Tommy Tonsberg, Editor of the Norwegian gardening magazine Hagetidend (Gardening Times) and author of several gardening books. He will speak on "Photography in the garden." Even though he is young, he has much experience in this area. Come and be inspired and get great tips on how to take better pictures!

Kari Rudi from Finnskogen, is a flower arranger who makes wreaths, hearts and other decorations made of beautiful natural materials. She will speak and will also have a stand on the market. http://www.atelierkari.blogspot.com

Gøril Fjellet, avid plant enthusiast and plant collector from Tangen. Well known member of Mjøsen Perennial Club and Blomstervennersklubb (Friends of flowers club). She will speak about Rock Garden Perennials and she will also bring with her exciting plants for sale. A really good opportunity to obtain some real gems.

Jonny Andresen will come all the way from Sweden to lecture on Woodland Plants. We are really looking forward this, as he really is an expert on plants that thrive in acidic soils. He collects Trillium, Magnolias, Rhododendrons and much, much more.

Svein Våtsveen from Raufoss and www.planteriket.no will be coming and he will have unusual and exciting perennials with him such as Paeonia, Hosta, Heuchera, Lilium, Hemerocallis and much more. He aims to offer the more unusual perennials that can be tricky to get hold of elsewhere.

Mona Hvesser from Sørlandet will talk about "fragrant plants in the garden" during the anniversary dinner. She is an avid plant collector and you will only find fragrant plants in her garden!

Sigrid Lerud from www.hadelandshagen.no will be coming to sell plants and will demonstrate how to divide perennials (workshop). Sigrid is a specialist in the geranium family and you will be surprised how many beautiful and useful geraniums will be available on the market.

Lille Berit Graaterud from our own Gardening Club will sell a variety of Pelargoniums. A number of choice varieties will be available.

Ragnhild Ellen Bacher from Oslo will also be coming to sell Fuchsia. She has a wide and exciting range, so there will be choice plants to find for all Fuchsia freaks!

In addition to this, we are working on a number of other things for the Garden Festival, so everything is not set in stone as yet.

We will be selling weekend passes that covers all lectures, and we will also sell admission tickets at the door for each lecture. There will be separate registration for the anniversary dinner (Saturday June 30). The information will be updated on www.hageselskapet.no, www.mjosby.no, www.hagepraten.no and www.hagegal.no.

It is also possible to contact us by e-mail at nordreland.hagelag@gmail.com or by phone to the organiser Nina (00 47- 911 18883) or the secretary Tove (00 47- 951 87563).
It would be particularly great if other local gardening clubs would like to organise a trip here for the weekend!
Welcome to a great gardening experience at Dokka!

Greetings from the Nordre Land Gardening Club
