Narcissus 'Amy Doncaster'
« on: March 11, 2012, 02:44:58 PM »
My friend Heather worked for John Morley and was given Narcissus 'Amy Doncaster' which John had many years ago from the lady herself.  When she came to see the snowdrops she very kindly brought me this pot which has just opened, it's a little delight :D Hope you like it Anne.

it's a pretty one Brian. Must be un-registered as I can't find any reference to it.

It is pretty David isn't it.  As you say it is not on Daffseek, when we're at the East of England Daffodil Championships I'll ask the National Judge if he knows any more about it.

I remember Amy Doncaster showing me a little narcissus like that in her garden on one of my visits in the late 70s and early 80s. I recall that she was very pleased with it but don't remember her mentioning  a name. I think I'd remember if it was named after her so it was probably named later. She didn't say anything about its origins I'm afraid. Or at least nothing I can recall at this distance in time.

It's not in The RHS International Register and Classified List either Brian.

I have a feeling she may have said that it came from E.A. Bowles (she had a lot of stuff from him) but I could easily be wrong.
