Unknown Corydalis....???
« on: May 02, 2012, 06:54:58 PM »
Hello Everyone,

I need help identifying this corydalis sp (or hybrid?) that popped up this spring in my border. I have no clue how it got there, as i have never grown corydalis, and this sp to my knowledge does not grow wild in the woodland near us, ...so it will remain a mystery how it got there i think...i also have no memory of planting a bulb looking like a corydalis tuber..

it is a tiny plant, and i did not have my macro lens at hand when it was flowering...so i hope the picture is good enough for ID..

Over 30 views Pontus and no replies? It must be quite obscure. Or the right people haven't seen it yet. :)

Corydalis is a big genus and the differences between some are minute. Since it is so small it is probably atypical this year. Does it seem to have a corm? does it have a scale at ground level that protected it when coming through the ground? If the yellow colour persists and is not a left-over from bud colour this is significant since most small ones are in the white-blue-red area. The shape of the corm is also significant so dig it up when the seeds are gone (quickly) and check the corm (replant quickly). It is nice looking so stick to it.
It could have arrived with soil in another plant you have acquired recently.
Please let us know when you have loooked at the corm.
