Celmisia alpina?
« on: July 24, 2012, 09:12:25 PM »
I have had this Celmisia growing in a gravel bed for some years, and now it's flowering for the first time.  It came to me labelled Celmisia alpina, but I'm not sure that it's correct. May be some of you NZ-ers can advice me  :)

I am very fond of Celmisias- though I find their naming difficult (what a surprise!)

Your fine plant looks to have too round leaves for alpina, or walkeri, which it does look close to...... I suppose if this were easy it would be no fun? ;)

I don't think it's alpina Magnar but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's not a hybrid of alpina (or to say that it IS). Celmisia is a very promiscuous genus.
