Narcissus moschatus
« on: October 06, 2012, 11:22:16 PM »
I spent the afternoon repotting Narcissus.  Funny how after so many years you recognize individual bulbs like old friends.    BTW some my old friends are shaped much like those bulbs. Here's one very strange-looking N. moschatus from John grimshaw in 1999.   Would an overly gritty mix early in life have caused this?   Only one bizarre bulb and I can't recall if the flowers are different that the others.   I soon will have to find an extra deep pot for it.  The second photo shows what normal moschatus bulbs look like.

John I'd say your bulbs aren't planted deep enough

John - N. moschatus from 1999! If you buy bulbs (imported) of that sp. today they will last one year.
Gerry passed away  at home  on 25th February 2021 - his posts are  left  in the  forum in memory of him.
His was a long life - lived well.

I think that I have a clump in the ground, from imported bulbs about five years ago, clumping up nicely. I must check -they represent my third attempt though!
