Escobaria

First Escobaria vivipara(?) to flower for me, in the past I grew them indoors.  Panayoti "pressured" me to buy this one at the rock garden club sale when he was in Nova Scotia in 2014.

If it is E. vivipara (it does look like it), you shouldn't need to worry about extra rainfall, and they are very cold hardy (USDA zone 3).  They tolerate extra moisture very well, at least the ones native to the North American great plains.  Not sure how the ones of mountain origin would react.

Thanks so much Rick, great looking plants you have there and yes we can get torrential rains in late autumn, November can be especially bad.  I think Panayoti said to grab this particular one as it was a prolific offsetter.

In Minnesota, there is quite a variation in offsetting.  Most I find with just 1 to 3  large "balls", but some have 20-30 small "balls" that form mats.
