   Is anyone here a wiz on South American flora? A friend of mine, who is trekking in Patagonia, has just sent me this. I’d love to Google a name to learn more about it!

Wow! What a plant! :o I see that one was for sale on Ebay (Two Rare Orchids: Chloraea magellanica + Chloraea alpina: Flowering Size) and went for £41.67!

 It is very common in the Torres del Paine national park and makes huge clumps some with a couple of dozen flowers on. Quite a sight amongst the tussock grass.

I wonder what Charles Darwin made of it? It must be wonderful to see undisturbed meadows with seemingly exotic flowers.
