If you're addict to Helleborus you can spent some bucks in few minutes, the choice is quiet hard to make among this river of colors

open pollinated ashwood seedlings

Hi,
after four years I've finally managed to flower a group of hellebore seedlings grown from plants selected with great care and much pleasure at ashwood open days.
I love the way they show individual flowers in water and they make a good table display for a few days.
The first yellow is from the normal ashwood 'yellow with yellow nectaries' strain. Easy enough to spot even at the seedling stage as the leaves are pale. This is the only one of this batch that has a very fine red picotee line on the inner sepals.
The last two plants are both from the same yellow strain but the male parent must have been a double red. Both are different forms of picotee/red yellows.

Had a trip over to Ashwood's nursery with 3 friends yesterday. The hellebores in the display beds and sales tables were fantastic and we had a brief look in the breeding tunnel - some absolutely fantastic plants! The Rodney Davis hybrids 'Penny's Pink' and Anna's Red' are really lovely but it was a yellow and a double purple that followed me home.

A couple of pics of the display area - the witch hazels had been severely pruned which spoilt their usually graceful lines and looked rather odd.

Gail - Do you recall the name of the one in Ashwood #12, the good strong pink.
Also is Penny's Pink an interspecific hybrid? Looks like it might have some argutifolius blood.
Great shots by the way.
