The people of Nairn turned out in force to support us and buy plants
The second guy in, studying the plants, was a real find for our group. He is Francis Higgins from Berrydale in Caithness and for thirty years he was gardener at the big garden there (would that be Langwell, I am not sure). Anyway, even though he had never shown before he came down armed with some wonderfull plants and won awards for Primula Beatrice Wooster; Soldanella minima (that is what he is studying) and he was awarded a Certificate of Merit for Celmisia ramulosa. Francis had a wonderful time at the show and I hope he will be a regular exhibitor.
Did you ever wonder what a Tardis looked like
Surely that can't be Dr. Who in the background!

What an amazing narcissus that is. Not one I've heard of. Is it a selection of
Narcissus rupicola watieri
?

I think Ian and Carole gave it the cultivar name when it got a joint rock award, Anthony.
It is quite tall and always has those tapering, twisted petals.
Must admit my personal preference is for the shorter, fuller, flat faced type of watieri.
edit: found this post about watieri forms ....

Resized to 800x600 and reduced 'quality' down to 8 now gives a size of 190kB. OK, now to see what happens!

Glad to see you're safely returned Stan.
That Soldanella mimima is a cracker - we haven't had one look like that for years

Now a range of winning plants from the very good section 2. The best plant in class 71, the best in section 2, best from a new exhibitor, best Ericaceous plant in the show which won the Ulster Group Quaich. The Fritillaria which received a merit cert though this does not show in the photo.
