lovely plants everyone! I got virtually no flowers from L.tweedyii this year - but I have some promising looking seedlings that are supposed to be white/ yellow forms which look fairly pale in leaf (they may turn out just to be normal forms but seeing as both my adults failed this year that's ok) and some which are rosea that have reddish leaves.

Hoping for some flowers on redivida from Archibald seed too.

here's a question for Lewisia buffs. I got this from the AGS as tweedyii. As soon as it came up I knew the cotelydons weren't right. It's deciduous too.

Is it nevadensis? Or too early to tell?

First flowers about three weeks ago on Lewisia rediviva x pygmaea, sown in 2010.

Flowering now -  Lewisia rediviva from wild collected seed sown January 2009.  I had seed from AGS and SRGC but checking the seed lists find they are from the same donor.  I have 16 plants and more flowers to come.

Lovely rediviva Roma. As I said earlier it is one I have struggled with (and lost!) a few times from bought plants and I'm trying it from Exchange seed too. With a bit of luck I might have some flowers in a couple of years time.

I have grown it from seed to flowering before but not managed to keep it much longer.  With 16 plants this time maybe I'll manage to keep a few a bit longer.

I've read somewhere that seedlings of deciduous Lewisia species are best left in their seed pots for a couple of years before potting individually. Anyone else doing this?

I've just left mine in the seed pots. I think when you pot them on the pots are so small it's easy to let them get too dry or too wet.

Plus I'm incredibly lazy.  ;D

I got a cheap Lewisia -cotyledon?  -from B&Q last year and it flowered about a week ago - and how !  The peculiar thing was that the flower  spikes came out horizontally and I had to tie them up to take this picture.  In doing so, I broke off 8 stems.  I have never seen a Lewisia flower in this manner.  Was it just the weight of the flower spikes that pulled them down ?
