Due to financial reprioritisation Gateshead Council have cancelled their Summer Flower Show. The show was very popular drawing visitors from across the north east of England, southern Scotland and further afield.
When the Gateshead Spring flower show ceased a few years ago the Rosecarpe Horticultural society stepped in and started their own Spring show which is now probably the most important flower show in the north east of England.
Anyhow, Rosecarpe is stepping in again and will be organising a (reduced) Summer Show which will be held on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th July at St Mary's Heritage Centre, Oakwellgate, Gateshead. The venue is at the Gateshead end of the Tyne bridge next to the Sage Venue.
All classes are open and free to enter. Admission to the show is also free.
There will be a huge range of classes for exhibitors with entries for carnations, dianthus, sweet peas, cacti and succulents, fuchsias, dahlias, summer flowering pot plants and veg - in short, a proper old-style flower show. Staging for the show will take place on Friday 26th July.
