As we prepare to enjoy some happy times with Family and Friends and exchange high hopes of a great year to come, let's spare a thought for those who are not so fortunate...
I have learned that Harry Dewey, the famous founder of AlpineL is very ill... I wish him a speedy and full recovery.....the Elves deserve their Leader in good fettle.

So sorry to hear about Harry Dewey Maggi....if you happen to know of an e-mail address that he may have access to, would you please be so kind as to pass on our love, our thoughts and our very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.  The alpine world has so much to thank dear Harry for.

Indeed, Cliff.... I have no contact method but I would hope that some of the Elves who are Scottish Rockers will be able to pass on our very best wishes on our behalf....... M

Cliff, could you tell me who published the card (should be on the back). Could well be plagiarism, as my design has been around  since the start of the year and been seen in at least one trade journal.

Cliff, I've sent you a personal message about this Xmas card. In case you don't get the message, could you please give me all the information you can glean from the back of the card - publisher's name and address, copyright date, artist's name, imprint or name of the card range, etc. I'll be seeking legal advice after the holidays and need all the info I can get on the card. It would also help if you could find out where the card was bought (although I'll be looking in the big chains today to see if I can find that out). Thanks. Can you please also not throw the card away just in case I can't find a copy in the shops.

Hi Martin,
No name on the back of the card only the following numbers:-

XCBHS7023    BXCQ105775

The BHS couldn't possibly be British Home Stores could it?

It was certainly purchased in Scotland....that is all I can tell you.

Then it looks like it was probably in a pack or boxed set of cards, with the publisher's info on the outer wrapping or box. I know it's a bit of a cheek to ask, but is there any way you could ask the sender of the card where they bought it and if they still have the wrapping with the publisher's info on  it. Where the card was bought would help a lot, as that'll then allow me to find out who the supplier was.

This is a real pain for me, as it's the best joke in the series of cards I've done to try to get started in the greeting card business as a publisher (I used to do cards for other publishers many years ago). It was in the trade magazine in the summer, so everyone in the business will have seen it. What's amazing is that not only is the joke the same, but the card layout and colouring is the same!

Yes, I hope so too.... typical of modern standards that we should find this type of theft in the "Season of Goodwill", ain't it?  I suppose nowadays all these ratbags are equal opportunity, politically correct, rob anyone, anytime criminals ?  :( >:( :P :-X :-\ :'(

Merry Christmas Eve:

Forwarding this note from Alpine-L

Cards may be sent to:
Harry Dewey, 4605 Brandon Lane, Beltsville, MD 20705-2604

Harry's condition is stable, no longer critical.

And now that it is finally officially winter, I decided that it was time to change my picture to a more accurate rendering of life in north-eastern Canada for the next 5-6 months...
