AGS On-Line Show

You're leaving it late. Entries to the On-line show close at 17.00 GMT tomorrow (24th December). Go on, have a go and then we can all discuss the results, disgree with the judges, complain about the schedule. Just like a normal Spring Saturday! The only problem is you'll have to sweat over the tense period of judging for days rather than hours.

You can now view the entries without the exhibitor's names. Some good fun to be had guessing who's been entering what, and some lovely plants. Good to see so many in open gardens rather than pots. Entries well up on last years first attempt. Certain plants appear a number of times in different classes which is within the rules. Maybe there should be a prize for the exhibitor who manages to put a single plant in the most classes! I think a certain Forum member might win that one this year!

I must say it was an interesting exhibision. 
I would have liked even more entries in some classes.

I did only find one I could find out the owner and that was Lesleys iris after getting the hint where it was grown I actually remembered seeing the plant on srgc forum. (Best of Luck)

Maybe this is "Schadenfreude", "skadeglädje" or laughing at others little dilema but when googling on ags I had to go back 5 pages to get the right one and that was 3 pages after the american goat society. srgc is the first to appear when doing a google search. Here is the link.

I've just enjoyed a visit to this "Show"... I didn't pay too much attention to eligibility in most classes but the Nomocharis shown in Class 62 ... for a Calochortus, is surely NAS (Not According To Schedule)

All the more reason for you to take part and have a little fun, then, I  would say! 
You sometimes come across to visit a show, don't you, so you understand what's expected!

Mmm. I'm afraid the SRGC Forum leaves it standing. I mean, one entry for Cypripedium, and a pretend one at that.

Thanks Maggi - I do try and visit some shows whenever I can, but there's "show standards" and there's "my standards"... two different things... 
But you're absolutely right, it's good fun !

I did indeed know your rhodo when I saw it, Luc, and some others as well!
Anthony, what do you mean, why is that Cyp. "pretend"..... is there some strange hierarchy in Cyp . growers that "I wot not of"?

Personally I think they should be put in a different genus. Most un-cyp like. Just my opinion - like it or lump it....or should that be like it or split it?

How about a bit of clarification on the show's cyp entry. What in blazes is everyone talking about?

Only entry in that class is a pic of Cypripedium formosanum.......what makes it different from any other cyps? Looks the same to me.... I must be missing something here

The flower and the leaves are nothing like other cyps. The leaves look as if they have be cut in half and the flower has that 'invagination' which is very 'unladylike'.
