So, you had a good channel hop, Wim?  Great photos of the plants  - perhaps  it's as well you couldn't take those big plants home - the ferry would sink!

Four pages of photos from Jon  via that AGS link - so many good plants but I was very taken with these three : the diminutive and quite perfectly formed Iris kolpakowskiana exhibited by Peter Taggart ; A pot of Lapeirousia oreogena from  George Elder which just vibrated with colour   and the feathery Ypsilandra thibetica from  Diane Clement.

I would agree with Maggi about the Lapeirousia, especially after reading Jon's comments about the colour of this plant and how difficult it is to capture it photographically. I would like to thank Kit Strange and her team who organised the Show, and provided us nurserypeople with beautifully prepared tables and regular supplies of coffee and tea; and it was nice to see students and growers from Kew. Kit told me that she had tried various ways of advertising the Show more widely, and as our experiences with the Kent Shows too the results can seem very limited, so it must be good to have it described here and catch the attention of more real plantlovers. It is a great start to the year in the south-east and always a really stimulating day.
