Juno Iris identification
« on: March 22, 2014, 10:38:59 PM »
Ralph Carpenter very sensibly suggested that I ask on the forum whether anyone can ID this Iris for me. I collected it in Southern Georgia, near the border with Azerbaijan, as I. caucasica, but it ain't. Is it Iris albomarginata?

Very attractive Iris, tom ( but aren't they all?!)

I don't think it is I. albomarginata - see here for Janis' pic of plant from locus classicus :

Might it be  I. vicaria  ?  http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=7836.msg215075#msg215075

Thanks Maggi. Not albomarginata then. But the white margin on the leaf is quite pronounced. Off to dig out my copy of Brian Mathew's Iris book.

Yes, the white margin is very definite .....  I'm wavering on the vicaria idea      ....Could it be Iris pseudocaucasica ?

Where are Janis, Jan Jilek or Peter Taggart when we need them, eh?  ;)
