Oh yes Fermi, that's VERY annoying - that you have and I haven't - again.  For weeks it has been very dry here and nothing happening among bulbs than suddenly it's very wet and things shooting up everywhere, especially Cyclamen and crocuses, nerines, and others. But I'm almost not in gardening mode at present with life a series of major frustrations. The thing I mentioned to you in a PM hasn't happened and isn't likely to I think and having arranged 29th April with my lovely surgeon for my op, the bureaucracy attendant an that has stuffed up and it now has to be postponed, probably until May 26th. Not his fault, not mine, not the (private) hospital's, just a group of "managers" who make financial decisions but know not a blind thing about the medical side of things yet have the power to say "yes" or "no" at will. Little empire builders, the lot of them. I understand how Mark S felt when his op was put off and the waiting goes on.

Time to coin a new word for these little people: bureauprats. I think Chaucer would have a suitable remedy which would cauterise a few blood vessels near where their brains are.

On a minor matter: a council automaton has sprayed weed killer along the edge of the grass strip that borders the road in front of our house. Every time I cut it, because if I didn't it would look like the foot wide hay field either side of the scoria wall in the centre of the street, I take an edge-cutting wheel along it, keeping the edges neat. I now have a horrendous yellow lawn edge which will eventually die back. This will leave a muddy strip which will encourage weeds. I have complained to the council. No doubt it will be as fruitful as punching fog!

Fermi,

Palmifrons is flowering for me here at present as well.  Only a couple of flowers, which is the maximum that ever happens.  Still, at least it is now regularly "some", unlike the first decade I grew it for.  ;)

I misread that as beer repeating. I'll drink to that. It's pronounce beer here anyway. :)

Well of course following beer there would likely be quite a lot of repeating anyway. ;D

Happy birthday Paul, tho' a little late. I hope your day was a good one.

Thanks Lesley (also belatedly ;) )

My day was pretty much a complete non-event.  Kind of been that way since Yvonne's passing.
Cheers.
