'Tadzhiki Eclipse' reminded me of this iris which flowered for me from seed, last year and the year before, and is from 'Tadzhiki Bandit'.

According to my records it is seed I received from the BIS in January 2006 #79 x 'Tadzhiki Bandit' LR France 3 seeds. So no I do not know the other cross Tom.

Hello all. This is my very first message on the forum.
Pat, the seeds you received were from Tadzhiki Bandit x unknown (bee pod). Tadzhiki Bandit is very pod fertile and most years produces bee pods on flowers that I have not made crosses on. Having seen several dozen of its seedlings in recent years, there is one negative trait that I personally dislike, it is the often rather pinched or unevenly folded sides of the falls. Tadzhiki Eclipse seedlings also suffer from this but to a lesser extent. Maybe, however, I ought not to judge arils and arilbreds by exactly the same criteria as I would TBs etc.?

Hello Lawrence -welcome to the forum.

Your preference for perfection in the flowers is needed by a breeder - but for a gardener even the "imperfect" flowers are beautiful!

Lawrence I like the charm of the pinched falls. I am not breeding for registering but breeding for fun and to get more irises in my garden. I have always selected any seeds that you have offered through the BIS over the years. Your seeds seem to do well for me. Well those that have germinated that is! I love the bee pods as you can get some pretty interesting off-spring.

Thank you for the warm welcome Maggi and Pat. Here’s a photo that shows the uneven side folding effect on the falls. 99/43-1: Tadzhiki Bandit X McAllister 84-7/13. I’m not sure if this seedling is AR or AB because I have no parentage information about the McAllister pollen parent.

Hi Tom. Keeping the photos corresponding to your chosen category, Aril hybrids (regeliocyclus and oncogelia), here’s seedling 99/46-1: Tadzhiki Eclipse X I. stolonifera (n°4). 18’’ (45cm), two terminal buds.
