Calypso dormancy

A quick question for Calypso growers - how moist do you keep them during dormancy? I realise they probably shouldn't be dry, but I think I kept them too wet last year and lost one...any advice welcome.
Cheers,
Alex

I would water twice a month from November until they start putting out a leaf in spring. I've had good success with this method for the last 5 years.

If you can stick your finger up to the second knuckle and feel moisture on your finger tip, then wait a few days.

Thanks Danny - although don't they put a leaf up in Autumn? Mine does anyway. Would you say no water over the Summer then?

Sorry! I meant flower bud, not leaf.
I should really read my posts before I send them

Thank you, very useful. I presume yours are in a pot? I guess that amounts to slightly moist but not wet, but certainly drier than i was keeping them.
Cheers,

I would use the term 'pot' loosely
I actually use a sterilized kitty litter pan with drainage holes drilled in the bottom. I currently have about 15 starting to wake up. I can't wait to post flower pics

I keep mine moist (not wet) all year round. They are plunged in sand under the bench and are in flower at the moment.
