News from the home front...
« on: July 23, 2014, 10:26:54 PM »
Just a note to let everyone know that I've left the Royal Botanical Gardens in Ontario, Canada to take the Vice-president of Preservation position at The Garden Conservancy in New York. That means were back in the US and that I'm working with an incredibly motivated group of people trying to save the significant gardens of North America--and convert them from private to public entities. Sharon and I have retrenched to the house in New Jersey, but have taken a small apartment in Cold Spring, NY (on ROCK Road!) to minimize commuting....

Congratulations on your new position Carlo.  I like the sound of The Garden Conservancy.

We had a significant private garden, Darts Hill, donated to our City some years ago.

If you make it out to the West Coast of BC next spring, a visit to the garden and discussions with the volunteers may be of interest to you.

We have developed a couple of crevice gardens at Darts Hill over the past couple of years. One crevice garden was constructed last fall with large blocks of tufa:

We planted it in the spring

Congratulations and all best wishes from Ian and I, Carlo.
This new appointment to the Garden Conservancy sounds like a fine challenge for you to enjoy.   Presume you will have to do a fair amount of travel around the gardens?  Have fun!

David - these are interesting links too- thank you.
