I don't see any entries for Phlox either - I can only assume it was a bad year for Phlox seed.

Don't know about the AGS, but Phlox is not in the SRGC list

I'm not sure if I'm being stupid, but I can't find 'Phlox' in any form in either the SRGC or AGS seed exchanges. Has it changed names?

It hasn't changed name, but we rarely have Phlox seed on the list, really sorry.  I think Alplains is the best source and lists several species.

Seemingly it's difficult to collect and when collected the quantities are small and therefore it's quite expensive. I agree with Diane, Allplains have by far the best selection in the market.

Thanks to all those members sending their kind words about the Seed Exchange who mention their  pleasure in the opportunities to check unfamiliar plants via a "google" search  from  the SRGC  online ordering service  - I regret that the SRGC cannot accept responsibility for the number of surplus seed orders that are resulting from the temptations thus placed before members!

P.S.  I should have pointed out that it is only possible to order a maximum of 200 packets of seed  from the surplus distribution!

It was very helpful with the Google search, although I did stop at 150 for the surplus seeds, as I do not have enough room.  I have asked "Santa" for another cold frame, although I think she is ignoring me.

I'm sure Santa  is just very busy at this time of year, Neil - have you tried leaving bars of chocolate lying around, half-wrapped in  pictures of cold frames.......  ::) ;)
Plus, of course, you need to be eating all your greens, tidying your room and generally  being a Good Boy......
( good luck with all that!!)  :D

I have enjoyed reading the forum for several years but have never contributed until now.  I am a member of the SW Scotland group, which is about to embark on the seed distribution for the 2014-15 seed exchange.  I thought it might be helpful to keep you updated on our progress over the next few weeks, perhaps even with some photos from my new camera.  The local group plans to set up the distribution on Thursday and Friday of this week, and then starting on Sunday, picking and packing will begin in earnest.

I am very organised this year.  AGS seeds sown on January 1st (except South African bulbs which I shall sow in September if I remember) and clean pots, labels and compost ready for seeds from SRGC.   It all goes wrong if I get good germination and can't find time or space to do the seedlings justice.  But every year I am still tempted to order more seeds ;D

The seed distribution was set up today at Threave, with 12 volunteers working all day.  We had a contingent down from Edinburgh to guide us - many thanks to them for their help and patience.  The day went very smoothly.  We are now ready to pick orders tomorrow.
