Tickets bought and, it being Valentine's Day, I will have some spending money (so much better for me than chocolates)

Thank you Emma and all good wishes for the preparations.

That's great news, Emma.  Remember last time when it was all done at short notice and the worry was selling enough tickets to break-even?  Now this year it has sold out, still with almost two months to go before the event
Almost in Scotland.

Hurrah - I'll be at Shaftesbury for the study day and sale! It will be my very first snowdrop event in Britain. Very exciting. So far, I've only been to Nettetal in Germany (which was always extremely cold and crowded and parking was an adventure - my car had to be pulled out of a boggy meadow by a tractor twice...).

I am going to donate some snowdrops to the Shaftesbury collection. It is such a nice idea. Do you think they stand a chance of ever becoming an RHS National Collection?

Anne, that is VERY exciting news!  It is Plant Heritage that oversees national collections - I'm not sure if the Shaftesbury collection aspires to that - yet!  It is just super to see a town getting involved in such a project, isn't it?  Beautifying the town and creating something the people can be proud of.

It was sad to hear of the death of Brian Harding, who has had such a  positive influence in the project - luckily there are fine folks  carrying on the work. Pam Cruickshank of Shaftesbury Snowdrops is a veritable  power-house of ideas and effort -  things are in good hands with her!

I agree - I was in contact with Pam and she was marvellous. I am so impressed by the effort the community is making.
((And - to be honest - I also want  to alleviate the impression of German group tours at these events - I have often read that they are not terribly welcome because they take up space...))
