Cally Gardens

During our trip to Scotland in mid September we finally managed to fit in a visit to Cally Gardens, Gatehouse of Fleet, and met Plantsman Michael Wickenden, who was about to leave for another trip to China. What a fabulous walled garden he has! Such a sheltered spot to grow all kinds of exotic plants. Just a few photographs.

brings back wonderful memories, visited the garden and nursery in 2010. The garden is very impressive by the patchwork of forms and colors. Thanks for sharing photos of your trip.

Cally Gardens opened today for a new season, with its usual mouthwatering selection of plants for sale. Sad and strange to be visiting now that Michael is not there. The small staff have worked hard over the winter to get everything ready for opening and the sales area looks good. Of course I came away with a box full of goodies, I couldn't help thinking that this might be the last chance to purchase these.
I would recommend a visit for anyone thinking of coming to SW Scotland this summer.

Just a few more...
Thank You, Johnralphcarpenter, for this interesting report about the Cally Gardens in Scotland. I visited Scotland more than 20 times, but not the Cally Gardens. In or next visit we will look to this fine garden and the nursery!
Greetings from Germany Harald
