nerine flowers with leaves
« on: November 12, 2014, 08:04:17 PM »
Does anyone have any ideas on the identification of this Nerine?  Unusually it makes leaves before the flowers.  It always flowers later than other Nerines, mid November into December is normal, depending on the weather.

They look like Nerine undulata. Mine are still blooming too.

I've heard of Nerine bowdenii x  N. undulata having such foliage but I would think Nerine humilis × Nerine undulata is more likely. I figure a hybrid is more likely to be doing so well in  a UK garden.... :-\

Diane,

it is an undulata hybrid - I have the same plant flowering now in a pot.
The varietal name starts with 'Kim' + surname  -I cannot remember the rest  -I will check the pot later.

Thanks very much for all your help.  It is a super plant, doing well on the south facing wall of our house.

It looks like the true 'Pink Triumph', a hybrid between N. bowdenii & N. undulata, raised in Guernsey before the Second World War. Bob Brown of Cotswold Garden Flowers has been selling this, or a similar hybrid, under the name 'Kinn McIntosh'.
