ixia viridiflora problem :(
« on: November 25, 2014, 01:08:21 PM »
Hello everyone,

a few days ago i brought in my pot of ixia viridiflora, as colder temperatures and maybe potential frosts where forecasted, and as there was a budded flowerstem on one corm, i did not want to risk it getting damaged...

it grew well to begin with, and buds kept expaanding and looking good, untill only a few days ago when they suddenly, instead of opening, started drooping and shrivelling, and one even fell off this morning ! :(

what is happening? can i save the last few flowers and make them open anyway? it would be a shame to loose the spike after such a long whait! I have momentarily brought it back outdoors in a vers sheltered spot on the balcony. as i suspected maybe they did not like the indoor heat or dry atmosphere....

Hi pontus,
the flowers may need more light to open,
cheers

I'm not as hopeful as fermi - I think once such flowers have suffered an abrupt temperature swing and begun to shrivel, there is little hope of saving them.  :'(
