Slow going in the greenhouse but here's a slightly ragged Narcissus ex Nylon Group, from seed sown September 2009 (SRGC 08/9-2456)

Despite the cold grey weather a good number of Narcissus are in flower here now.

N. 'Treble Chance' is new this year and I'm very impressed with it. It looks great next to this Crocus laevigatus 'Fontenayi', a happy accident. A selection from the same collection as 'Julia Jane' JCA 805, which has also started to bloom.

N. albidus SF110 in purest white.

And N. cantabricus subsp. tananicus, which open a creamy colour and fade to what to the eye is an off-white shade. The taxonomy of these hoops is certainly confusing.

I'm too ashamed to show N. 'Craigton Chorister' because it's one that was attacked by that pesky slug  Why do they always go for the choicest treasures??

N. 'Craigton Clumper' is looking a bit deformed because a leaf was lying across the bloom, but it has good form nonetheless and plenty more buds are on the way.

The first flower on N. 'Julia Jane' is untypical, trumpet shaped instead of being petunioid and a bit small. It doesn't look like it will open any further. All these bulbs flowered last year and the blooms were all 'normal'. I suspect that I was a bit conservative with the watering last year, so maybe the bud didn't form properly. We'll see what the rest look like.

Just waiting for a bit of warmth to open, I've never had N. jonquilla so early.

Hi you all masters.
 I made a mistake and didnt order N.dubius seeds,SRGC 68th seed distribution list no 5274 which is donated by Mr.Y.Dubois. Now I dont know how to solve it.
I also want to get
N.tazetta subsp. aureus
N.tazetta subsp. lacticolor
N.tazetta subsp. ochroleucus, tiny bulblets much appreciated.

Today's Narcissus cantabricus var. foliosus. Usually this is the earliest blooming petticoat here but the yellow one I previously posted was the earliest this season.

What's the background to N. ‘Kôhô/Ôhô (黄宝)’? Is there a Japanese hybridisation programme going on that the wider World doesn't yet and should know about?

I'm hoping I get your meaning right and reply... The background of N. ‘Koho’ is uncertain, unfortunately. It's an unregistered variety to The International Daffodil Register and named by an alpine nursery in Japan, The Alpine Garden YAMAKUSA. According to the nursery owner, the seeds were from an alpine plants society’s seed exchange and labelled as something mysterious ‘Narcissus cantabricus conspicuus’. The seedlings’ flowers varied in colour and blooming time, then a plant with relatively early blooming deeper yellow flower was selected and named. I feel some N. bulbocodium influence from it (long, upright and glossy leaves and relatively shorter stamens) so perhaps a hybrid origin with N. bulbocodium and N. cantabricus.

The daffodils in Bulbocodium Section are minor plants in Japan. There are a few alpine/bulb nurseries breeding actively with small narcissus (as owner’s hobby) but they don’t look being interested in registering names and vegetative propagation to sell them. I only know 1 nursery to sell its original breeding narcissus commercially in Japan (below).
