 Received from Kevock Garden Plants:

New Bulb and Plant Catalogues Now Online

"Happy New Year to you all from a windy Scotland! We have two new catalogues to bring you.

The first is our new bulb catalogue which has many new varieties of bulbs such as Pleione, Roscoea and lilies among many others. If you are especially interested in lilies this catalogue is where the vast majority of our selection is offered. We are also offering some plants  for the first time, such as Cyrtanthus, Hymenocallis (spider lilies) and Amarine, hybrids of Nerine and Amaryllis - so we hope you will try something new.

  Hymenocallis festalis

Cyrtanthus mackenii

The bulbs must be ordered by March 10th and will be delivered in late March/early April for summer flowering. Our bulb catalogue can be found here:   Bulb Store

The second one is our regular plant catalogue which has now been updated and includes many new varieties of plants as well as lots of old favourites.
We do 3 or 4 of these updates to our store throughout the year as we have such a specialised selection of plants the lists are constantly changing. You can find the new webstore
here:      Plant Store

Helleborus orientalis 'Yellow Lady'
                                                                                                                                                         News
The new year at Kevock has started very well with only the high winds trying to knock us back! Seed sowing has begun this week at the nursery and will go on for most of the month. We have a large variety of new seeds that we will be sowing and also lots more of the old favourites going in to replenish stock after a busy year.

We have also just begun the first few tentative steps to our displays for Chelsea, Gardening Scotland and Harrogate this year and we will hope to see some of you there.

Hope this year turns our to be a good gardening one for you.

Best wishes,

Stella, David and the team at Kevock Garden Plants."

News from Kevock ..... Preparations are underway for their RHS Chelsea Show display in May

and a new offer :  "We are delighted to have been offered the list of a specialist French grower who can supply some bulbs rarely seen on the market. We want to share that opportunity with you and so have added two more lists to the website, one of bulbs to flower in autumn 2016 and one to flower in spring 2017 (such as this Iris korolkowi pictured)

Details : http://www.kevockgarden.co.uk/   order form needed for each list

Autumn-flowering bulbs will be delivered in August, so that you can enjoy them flowering this autumn. They are mainly the three Cs - Colchicum, Crocus and Cyclamen - but there are some others that you might not normally think of.   http://www.kevockgarden.co.uk/plantlist/h15a_aaa_catframe.htm

Spring-flowering bulbs will be delivered in September or early October. There's a bigger range of these, many of them special forms that were collected, some of them many years ago, by Antoine, his father Michael, or other famous people. They will flower next spring.

You have to go down the page a bit to see the info about the bulbs from Antoine Hoog- see my post above for the links there .
On the Bulbs page, you will see :

"Special offer of rare bulbs

We are pleased to be able to offer again some bulbs that are rarely available, grown by Antoine Hoog in France. Thank you, Antoine, for growing them, making them available, and for the many photographs that you have provided.

There are two separate lists.

Autumn-flowering bulbs will be delivered in August, so that you can enjoy them flowering this autumn. They are mainly the three Cs - Colchicum, Crocus and Cyclamen - but there are some others that you might not normally think of.

Spring-flowering bulbs will be delivered in September or early October. There's a bigger range of these, many of them special forms that were collected, some of them many years ago, by Antoine, his father Michael, or other famous people. They will flower next spring.
Ordering the special-offer bulbs

You can't order these from our bulb store, because that is in use for our catalogue of summer-flowering bulbs. So browse the catalogues and then use the order form (Word file).

Please note that you can't mix and match bulbs from the autumn and spring catalogues, nor with the contents of the bulb store. You need a separate order for each catalogue.

Order as soon as possible, but at the latest by March 15th. Orders received by February 15th will be processed then, and bulbs are less likely to be sold out.

In the catalogues prices are given for packs of bulbs (1, 3, 5, 10, 25, as shown).

For this special offer only we are not making any charge for postage and packing for UK customers. For elsewhere in the EU we will charge £9 less than the usual prices, which are listed here.

Note that there is a minimum charge of £30 for the bulbs in each order.

Send your orders to Kevock Garden, 16 Kevock Road, Lasswade EH18 1HT, UK
OR email a completed form to bulbs@kevockgarden.co.uk
OR send the same information as is requested on the order form by email to bulbs@kevockgarden.co.uk
BUT don't send card information by email; phone 0131 454 0660 instead.
DO ensure that your card is valid until after the delivery time (August or October).

When you do find it Mark, be prepared for some price-shockers. I'm not talking about rare bulbs either. £12 for one bulb of Galanthus 'Magnet', Iris unguicularis cretensis or Tecophilaea cyanocrocus  ???

Its the "special offer of rare bulbs" that I'd like to see. Not planning to buy any because I need to save my money for when I'm in England

I tend to use cyclamen as a benchmark price and although the price for most species is for 3 bulbs, they are selling one bulb of C. purpurascens for £8.00, africanum is £9.00, and graecum cost £10 each. Granted, C. graecum can take a few years to reach flowering size (and I assume they are selling mature bulbs) but I think it's still pretty steep. You can get purpurascens to flower in 18 months... :-X

The links I gave take you straight to the "special" offers of "rare" plants. You'll definitely be better off saving your pennies.  ;)

Sometimes I wonder why I bother......... ::) :(

...and bear in mind -  the plants are offered for sale - there is no compulsion to buy - but I expect there will be customers pleased to get the offer.
