North Green Snowdrops 2015
« on: January 14, 2015, 08:38:28 AM »
Previous customers will be pleased to know that North Green will be sending out their catalogue on Friday (16th Jan).  So we do not have long to wait.

In a new venture for North Green Snowdrops the catalogue will also be available online towards the end of next week at

www.northgreensnowdrops.co.uk

Please note there will not be online ordering but, for new customers (or those who have lost it) the order form can be printed off and posted in.

Grateful for that Brian. I haven't had snowdrops for a while but got my collection of catalogues out recently to show my daughter the paintings illustrating the cover. Will be very interesting to peruse it online.

Got the catalogue in the post today ;D ;D ;D. Some great cultivars are available, some I have never seen offered before.
Cultivars to bid on are great too, specially when you love to grow the yellows.

Yes the European ones went out first to allow time for them to arrive!  Hopefully other forumists in England will get them this weekend.  As you say there are some wonderful bulbs to bid on, including those from our own Cyril Lafong ;)

Excellent, as a first time orderer I'll be interested to see how many (if any) I get. Ordered in good time, but ones that are on the scarcer side (I think) here's hoping.

Well everyone, I cannot comment as to the total number that Brian has bought this year, but I can comment on the sight of him staggering under the weight of a huge number of bulging bags at the Harlow AGS event!  :o

Aha! An eye witness report, Ingrid - very valuable - I reckon he wasn't able to say  how many because even with his shoes and socks off he could count 'em! ;D

I wonder of Brian will plead Emma's excuse - that he is merely acting as a "personal shopper" for others.....

Ah busted!  However in my defence I did buy three pots of Iris unguicularis 'Peloponnese Snow' two of which were gifts!  My 'haul' included three pots of crocus, helleborus thibetanus, Erythronium 'Margaret Mathew', Roscoea 'Harvington Raw Silk' and Pteridophyllum racemosum and three snowdrops from Tim Ingram 'Copton Trym', 'Copton Robyn' and a duplicate snowdrop which is destined for someone's grave.  I thought I was quite restrained really ;D

Brian, restraint is a very overrated concept I think. Being fourth generation west Wales farming stock means restraint is in my DNA but only plants and especially snowdrops can override that particular genetic deformity.

Kind gifts indeed for their lucky recipients, a very desirable plant. This is why living on an island can be so frustrating at times. As excellent as mail order is, there are some things, such as your 'Pelop. Snow', which I assume are in numbers too low to offer in the online catalogue. I'd love to get to more shows more often to rummage for these specials. Harlow (not too far from my folks) is definitely on the cards for next year.
