Hi Maggi, it was very busy and bitterly cold!

Funny, I was just thinking how perfectly mild it appeared and how over-dressed everyone was.  By Canadian standards one would judge the temp to be circa -15c. but then the G. would have flopped.  ;)

Do they take the money in advance? It seems that once the gate is open everyone just piles in.....

The queue had started before 8am, so some keen folks stood around for 2 1/2 hours before they were compeled to run, it's a long time for the adrenaline rush to build up!
I've run out of space, don't let me get more plants!

Excellent musings and right on the money. Being my first visit it was quite an experience but that what happens in commerce and it's simply a case of supply and demand. I think it's very much luck of the draw to where you rock up on someone's stand and your hearts desire is not in that 2 square metres within your grasp.
I doubt there were more than 4 or 5 of the 'desirables' (if that)  on any stand besides Matt Bishops. Given the number of people there and the spread out location of the varieties the chances are slim at best. Most people I talked to had an idea of what they were after but if they got what they wanted it was more luck than planning. If I'd gone there only for a Green Dragon it would have been a 400 mile gamble with very poor odds.

I beg to differ, but then it depends on your personal definition of 'desirables' :)

The new Bumble Green in-situ! It is a super addition to the green range, large strong flowers and great markings.

I'm not a huge fan of the greens really- so ' Bumble Green' is to my taste, being mostly white - with such definite inner marks  - plus, I love the name!

Whilst Myddleton House can be a lottery, you can be at the head of the queue for dormant bulbs - unless you happen to be away when the list arrives :) ;D :)

I've learned over more than 30 years of growing galanthus that chasing after all the latest 'must have' snowdrops is a strain not only on one's wallet but also on one's nerves.

Sometimes it takes many years to attain your heart's desire..........and when you do attain it life is oh so sweet  ;D
