I hope someone from the group who came to me after the sale posts a photo of the boot of their cars  :o

Must have been travelling light, or left all their belongings behind to make room for drops. Probably the latter.....

Looking at the number of buyers, the range of sellers and the pretty vast number of plants  on sale- I get dizzy just thinking about how one would plan one's purchases  ???   Where  to begin?  I suppose that most attending might have some idea of who might have what plants but for someone like me- just looking at the list of possibles Andrew gave us  ( listed in the Snowdrop Events thread)  there are already so many possibilities - that I might see plants I fancy, but I would have no idea who might have them!  The thought  of me trotting about like a headless chicken trying to join in is laughable.  ;D  Added, of course, to the fact that as a short person, I'd never see half the plants anyway!  That tall fellow seen  chatting to Val Bourne has the build for the game, though!

Wonder if Ms Bourne has been told yet about that photo?  ( Refers to  post above re Telegraph article  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardening/gardeningadvice/11362848/How-to-create-snowdrop-heaven-in-your-garden.html:D 8)

Yes her latest photo has been passed on!  As a beginner I think you have some snowdrops in your head that you are looking for and bypass all others until you find them.  Anthony was agonizing over whether to buy 'Richard Blakeway-Phillips' yesterday as it was one he had mentally marked (did you get it?), whilst focussed on that he was not seeing the others around it and I remember being like that.  As time goes by there are more that you are looking for and you just go to the sellers with the best plants first and look for them then work your way around (see video), however this does mean that people rushed by Matt's stand (with equally good value plants) and I was able to pick up a G. nivalis Verdigris a while after the main rush - much to my surprise and thanks to Chas ;)

Had a number of those in my wallet at 10.30am which quickly evaporated or rather by alchemy turned into blue plastic bags full of 'white gold'. Is it just me or does anyone else have the odd affliction of (almost) not flinching at paying £40 for a snowdrop but almost falls over at being charged £3+ for a coffee at the services on the way home?

I suspect a poll of those there yesterday most would have sided with you.  But then I would flinch at paying £3 for a coffee without buying anything else!

Me too - when you  see all these folk walking about  first thing in the morning- beeline to coffee shop on way ti work - not much wonder they can't afford anything useful - like a house, or a plant!  :P ::)

I also get annoyed when you have to pay to get into plant sales - after all they are going to reduce the contents of your wallet anyway and must make enough from the sellers contributions, and especially refreshments which we all want (bacon rolls to be recommended at Myddelton, also the soup).  This sale is an exception as the proceeds were going to a really worthwhile cause.
