Hello
I am thinking on starting to grow saxifraga. Can anyone provide me with some beginners tips. Is it best to start from seeds? Where do I best buy seeds / plants. What time of year is it best to sow?
have anyone a "beginners guide to saxifraga cultivation".
As a gartener I know most about hardy orchids. I live in Denmark in clima zone 8.
Regards Erling

Loads of excellent Saxifraga information in the website of the Sax. group, Erling - I suggest you have a look here http://www.saxifraga.org/plants/articles/default.htm - some articles about growing Saxes, one of them is abt growing from seed.  Happy reading.

Loads of Saxes in flower now but little time to get pictures of them. Just one for today.

Sax. oppositifolia 'Le Bourg d'oisans' probably the best form for my climate.

Sax. burseriana major has an excellent season - and so far... no slugs in sight !

Loving this wee Saxifraga 'Coolock Gem' right now. The contrast of the brown anthers with the pure white petals is gorgeous. I grow all my Sax's outside, so the brown tips are 100mph windburn  :-[ I'll never make show bench plants of them  ::)

That'd be a great trick, Roma  ;D  I'm sure I'd have to own up though.

Saxifraga oppositifolia
Two without labels, in the first the label is now well under the cushion,
the second the birds must have been having some fun.
