Not a good today, snow ishe last thing I want a few days before we open  :-\
a few photos....
Enjoyed the photos Richard especially the Ketton seedling.
Hope the snow stays away for your opening - thank goodness the flowers pick up very quickly once the sun comes out.

Looking good even frozen, Richard. Fingers crossed for you, and yes - very pretty marks on the Ketton seedling.

Just an interesting lesson in how much variation you can get from one pod of seeds. I apologise you will have to scroll sideways, but the picture proportions need to be like this to demonstrate. They are all to the same scale. Note variation in height, leaf habit, scape posture etc.

Coincidentally, Matt T. has just posted a montage of Galanthus reginae-olgae  forms he saw on his recent holiday  -  http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=12363.msg323530#msg323530    8)

Nice to see all your babies together, Anne! Totally different perceptions when you see them as the whole plant. Those I picked out previously from your flower-only portraits don't stand out so much now. However, #4 catches my eye, looking especially vigorous and floriferous. 4 scapes indeed!

Richard - the garden looks great and I also really like your Ketton seedling.  You are way ahead of me here in Kent.

Anne - what patience you have to pollinate, collect seed, germinate, grow on, display, photograph and so forth.  Immaculate finish as always.  They are beautiful.

I am suffering from "its too cold out there" this year  ;)  I have noticed some are looking beautiful and will make a special effort to get out there tomorrow with the camera.  A friend of mine in USA offered to make a video from some of my snowdrop photos so I sent him 40 + various photos past and present (losses included) and he came back with this beautiful video.  If you have 5 mins spare take a look at it here :-

Anne,
Congratulations....what a fine comparative and instructional display. Can you share the cross on the pod from which these seeds came? It looks like some of these have already multiplied to a few bulbs. So I am curious as to what year you originally planted these seeds? Great fun to see. Thank you. Rick

What an interesting group photo Anne. You are a very skilled grower.

In my own small way I have seedlings coming on however my most interesting crosses do not produce many seeds & then they do not germinate... :-\

Hi Rick, the cross is G. plicatus Wendy's Gold' x G. nivalis 'Sandersii group' ('Lutescens") made in 2006. Ye gods, 9 years ago!
Jennie, I enjoyed the video - fun trying to name them as you go through, and nice music too. You'll need 10 minutes though, grab a cuppa.

Lovely showing today of two beautiful 'greens'...

There seems to be a trend for many of the 'greens' to look very similar. However, as a 'green' lover I have to say that my latest, 'Simply Glowing' from Alan Street and Avon is very distinctive and readily distinguishable from 'Castle Green Dragon'. I have attached a couple of photos to illustrate the difference.

'Simply Glowing', as the name suggests, has a bright iridescence which really makes it stand out. It is a real eye catcher, even for non-galanthophiles of my acquaintance!

I learned from Alan that this variety was first spotted in a hedgerow and secured in the nick-of-time before a large hole was dug by the Council to install an electrical box!!!!!!! :o

Well worth a look for any 'green' lovers or those who like an eye-catcher.

Maggi, many thanks from my technical director to yours for the photo sizing assistance  ;D

Jennie - I have just sat with a cup of coffee and thoroughly enjoyed the snowdrop "movie"  I feel rested and delighted in equal measure.   Thank you! I will share the link to the SRGC Twitter pals so they too can relax to the music and flowers.

Ingrid, my technical director was happy to help!

I see what you mean about  'Simply Glowing' having quite a distinct look to it. I imagine that with a little sun behind it, it would  light up even more.
