I imagine that with a little sun behind it, it would  light up even more.

You are spot on Maggi! The sun was shining quite brightly this morning and it made trying to get a photo of 'Simply Glowing' very difficult. I have seen another photo in Hanneke Van Dijk's book but that shot does not capture the intensity of the glow or the sheen.

I enjoyed the video too Jennie - but would have a job putting names to a lot of the snowdrops! I came to two conclusions - one you have a very good friend in the US, and two, you take very good photos :). Snowdrops do look wonderful as they spread and increase in the way several of your photos showed.

'Simply Glowing' from Alan Street and Avon is very distinctive and readily distinguishable from 'Castle Green Dragon'...'Simply Glowing', as the name suggests, has a bright iridescence which really makes it stand out. It is a real eye catcher, even for non-galanthophiles of my acquaintance!

Indeed it is Ingrid, visitors today remarked on ours which was simply glowing!  A very apt name and a nice addition to the greens, ours in the garden is not quite as far out as yours but it is striking even in bud.  Thanks for the extra background info too.

Richard - the garden looks great and I also really like your Ketton seedling.  You are way ahead of me here in Kent.

Anne - what patience you have to pollinate, collect seed, germinate, grow on, display, photograph and so forth.  Immaculate finish as always.  They are beautiful.

I am suffering from "its too cold out there" this year  ;)  I have noticed some are looking beautiful and will make a special effort to get out there tomorrow with the camera.  A friend of mine in USA offered to make a video from some of my snowdrop photos so I sent him 40 + various photos past and present (losses included) and he came back with this beautiful video.  If you have 5 mins spare take a look at it here :-

Jennie,

What a treat to see your snowdrops in this creative and delightful presentation format. You have some rare beauties. Hats off to both you and your friend.

Two in particular caught my eye that I need your help on IDs. First, into the presentation at 1:03 there is a terrific yellow with quite a large mark. Second, at the very end on the final slide there is one that looks to be possibly a gracilis (graecus).

Thanks in advance! Rick

Bitterly cold here this morning but some early Sun highlighted some warming new appearances!

Hi Brian, not unexpectedly given the common origin, 'Simply Glowing' and 'Alan's Treat' go very well together. It looks like Alan is developing a 'designer colour palette'   8)

I'm told that the "colour of the year 2015 " is a plummy pink- so if that's going to carry  thro' to  'drops, there will be tremendous excitement- or horror - hard to tell!!    "Pantone colour of the year 'Marsala' 2015"  :o ;D ;D ;)

G.’Philippe André Meyer’ named for one of his former employers by Marc Brown and received from Avon Bulbs this year.  I think this is the snowdrop which caused Marc to come up with the description pterugiform.  A very pretty little snowdrop and one which will rival the likes of ‘Trimmer’ to be a favourite.
