I am interested in how you dealt with your resting bulb (I assume it was a resting bulb from Avon) when it arrived? Mine has come through quite strongly and I wondered if there is any difference in handling.

All my dormant bulbs (planted in the summer) have come up well even though the shipping may take even two weeks. I have planted them as soon as they have arrived. Here they have come up and flowered earlier the first year than subsequent years. I have been wondering about this, perhaps I haven't planted them deep enough and when they adjust the depth themselves, they come up later like they should. But this has happened now twice with several different cultivars.

These pictures are from yesterday, first is 'Green Light' three bulbs planted last June, and two of them are going to flower this year. :) It came up already in December but didn't suffer from being under snow for two months.
In comparison here is my old G.nivalis yesterday, later than 'Green Light, at least this year.

Hi Leena, do you plant them in pots and then in the ground or directly into the ground?
I don't have 'Green Light', you must post some pictures when it appears!  8)

'Green Light' is usually about two weeks earlier than the bulk of the nivalis snowdrops it grew up with.
Almost in Scotland.

Love it Anne!  I'm also very keen on Emma's  " i-poc "  contraction - so easy to remember.

Like the eye poc!  The Boardmans have been growing these snowdrops for some years (think how long it must have took for 'June Boardman' to come into the sales lists) they both, and now just June, have been keeping an eye on them and Bill was a plantsman of some note.  Stable differences in height and marks.

G. 'Fieldgate Fugue'
Not very spectacular - but a good snowdrop for me. It opened up in the sun yesterday.

The Boardmanīs yellows seem to have greenish leaves, a feature I favour very much!
Snowdrops with green leaves are a special interest. This one, a G. nivalis x ikariae - hybrid by Nicolas Top, shows not only green leaves, but an elegant flower, too.

Nearly an EYEPoc!  ;D ;D

I saw something reminiscent of this at a garden I visited on Saturday.  It made me thing how great it would be to have a snowdrop with a 'face' (like 'Grumpy') but with the face clearly visible on the outer petals.  Surely that's the sort of thing that a large scale commercial bulb grower would want to get hold of and market?

Mariette you would have been interested in another one I saw which had a typical greyishgreen elwesii leaf but the back was a shiny apple green like a woronowii!
